Potential Buyers Of Our Gold USA/UAE + Extras

UAE

1. Emirates Gold DMCC — largest in the Middle East, ~200 tonnes/year capacity
Plot No. 1G, Phase 1, Plot No. 393-111, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, DMCC, Sheikh Zayed Road, P.O. Box 24305, Dubai, UAE

2. Al Etihad Gold Refinery DMCC (Al Etihad Gold FZCO) — specializes in scrap/doré/large-volume processing
Plot No. DMCC-EZ-03-04, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, DMCC, P.O. Box 283648, Dubai, UAE

3. SAM Precious Metals FZ-LLC — the third UAEGD-accredited refiner (I didn't pull a verified street address in this search — I'd get it directly from DMCC's member directory before reaching out).

(Dubai is the city of gold, there are plenty of other buyers than just the above three)

USA

This is the harder side. There is effectively one LBMA/UAEGD-caliber refiner physically on the East Coast:

Metalor USA Refining Corporation (part of Metalor Technologies, owned by Tanaka Kikinzoku Group)
255 John L. Dietsch Boulevard, North Attleboro, MA 02763
Tel: +1 508 699-8800
LBMA Good Delivery accredited since 1987, handles doré, scrap, and dishoarded bars at industrial scale.

Boston is the most likely location that can handle the capacity and the African gold if we are buying/selling at scale.

Extra (USA + other gold refiners that can handle the capacity and gold)

Widening beyond LBMA-only status, here's the fuller US picture — but it's worth knowing upfront that the pool of refiners actually equipped for third-party institutional-grade doré/bullion at hundreds of kilos/month is small. The whole of North America only has 8 LBMA Gold Delivery refiners total, and only 2 are in the US:

The only two LBMA Good Delivery refiners in the US

Asahi Refining USA Inc. (largest-volume US refiner)
4601 West 2100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84120
Tel: +1 801 972 6466
Processes mined doré and hi-grade recycled material at large scale; also operates a CME-accredited depository in New York State for storage/logistics even though refining happens in Utah.

Metalor USA Refining Corporation
255 John L. Dietsch Boulevard, North Attleboro, MA 02763 (56 mins from Boston, about a 2 hour round trip)
Tel: +1 508 699-8800

Outside The USA

Canada (4)

CCR Refinery (Canadian Copper Refinery) — Glencore Canada
Montréal East, Quebec
Gold/silver-listed since the mid-1950s; recovers precious metals from copper anodes and third-party anodic slimes.

Asahi Refining Canada Limited
130 Glidden Road, Brampton, Ontario L6W 3M8
Tel: +1 905 453 6120
Sister refinery to the Salt Lake City operation — same corporate group (ARE Holdings/Asahi Holdings), also treats high-grade doré.

Royal Canadian Mint
Ottawa, Ontario
On the gold GDL since 1919 — one of the oldest continuously listed refiners in the world. Treats large-scale-mine doré and high-grade recycling feedstock, produces GDL bars alongside Maple Leaf coins.

Teck Metals
Trail, British Columbia
Listed on the silver GDL only (since before 1959) — silver is a byproduct of their smelting operation, so this one's not relevant to your gold volumes.

Mexico (1)

Industrias Peñoles (Met-Mex Peñoles, S.A. de C.V.)
Torreón, Coahuila
Listed for silver since 1901, gold since 1991. Intake is mostly feedstock from its own mines and Fresnillo, plus some third-party material — worth noting they're primarily a silver-driven operation with gold as secondary.

Ultimately if I decide to take on a partner for this they have to be willing to move. I will need them in the operations. They can buy it or they can sell it but ultimately there has to be a trusted partnership. Maybe that partnership is 50/50, maybe its 60/40, maybe its 70/30, maybe its 80/20…whatever it is I need trust and a thoughtful person to be be able to complete their part of the whole process at scale. As I have said in other blog posts I can do it alone in the beginning but there will come a point where I need a trusted partner to pick up the slack.

I think it would also be wise to consult other people in this space, they might be able to point me to other refining locations or buyers that don’t lock us down to Boston or a particular city.

My big picture idea on this is I would buy, the gold would be shipped via air freight, the partner would pick up the gold, sell it, and then we would repeat the process weekly or monthly gradually building out the team and expertise needed to make this a thriving business.

How many kilos can you realistically fly with commercially before it becomes an issue?

I have been told by https://www.joisilva.co/ that realistically about 10.

I was advised by https://www.joisilva.co/ that you can fly up to 500 kgs on a private aircraft. What kind of private aircraft? That will depend on where we are flying to and the weight of the cargo. I was advised by them the most expensive part of the whole process from getting your gold from point A to point B is the aircraft itself.

500 kgs or less?

Jets that can fly non stop ultra long range to Boston, MA from Lusaka, Zambia.

Ultra-long-range private/business jets (the realistic option for this):

  • Bombardier Global 7500 / Global 8000 — range ~7,700nm, comfortably covers this distance

  • Gulfstream G650ER — range ~7,500nm

  • Gulfstream G700 / G800 — range ~7,000-8,000nm

  • Dassault Falcon 8X / Falcon 10X — range ~6,450-7,500nm, right at the margin

Nautical miles Lusaka, Zambia to Boston, MA 6,431

Nautical miles Lusaka, Zambia to Dubai, UAE 2,896

Bombardier Global 7500

Gulfstream G650ER

Gulfstream G800

Dassault Falcon 10X

We also have the option of using cargo planes like the Boeing 777F. From the research I have done it sounds like it would be overkill for 500 kgs and impractical but if we had large quantities we could use a larger plane. Gold is very dense and heavy so the kind of plane we use and how it packed on the plane matters a lot. Best to consult aviation experts and those that have flown precious metals before.

Boeing 777F

For full disclosure I used AI to make the excel spreadsheet. I checked the data and made sure it was like previous excel files you have seen posted in previous blogs. The point of this one though was to be able to get an idea on the effect on the air fright costs from Zambia to Boston vs Zambia to Dubai. It is a much shorter distance between Zambia and Dubai. We are saving roughly $3,959 per kg by chartering from Zambia to Dubai. Maybe we have the Zambia to Dubai route and then we have the Central and South American route to Boston or Salt Lake city. Everything is about being efficient with our time and resources. I will say this, the Boston and Lusaka route still pencil out. I am bout practicality and the team. If the business is already set up on Zambia to Boston and it is going well why change it? Instead of deleting the route add a Dubai to Zambia route or find a supplier below the Rio Grande. These are business decisions that would need to be discussed and finalized later with partners and investors.
