LNG Export Business Idea
Why is this a good idea?
U.S. natural gas trades at a fraction of what the same gas fetches in Europe and Asia. This venture captures that gap by chartering a tanker, buying LNG on the U.S. Gulf Coast at roughly $7.03/MMBtu, and selling it overseas at a base-case price of $10.50/MMBtu, a spread that scales to a projected $79.3M in net profit by Year 2 on a $42M capital raise. The U.S. is the world's largest LNG exporter and exports are still growing — but the return is also sensitive to two volatile inputs, gas prices and vessel charter rates, so the case for investing rests on locking in real purchase, freight, and sale contracts rather than the current, historically wide price gap alone.
